The Role
We are seeking a**Casual Registered Nurse.**The Registered Nurse reports to the Nursing Manager and rotates within the Maternal Fetal Medicine clinics. The Maternal Fetal Medicine clinics are responsible for family centered nursing care to expectant families in Southern Alberta, conforming to all CRNA standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and triage the needs of expectant mothers/families in an outpatient setting;
- Educate current patients on various pregnancy related screening and diagnostic tests;
- Offer professional and high-level nonjudgmental telephone support for patients, referring physicians and other healthcare workers;
- Deliver professional communication to a multi-disciplinary health care team and commit to offering exceptional patient care in every interaction every day;
- Administer and interpret computerized non-stress tests, provide patient teaching and counsel in relation to the management of at risk pregnancies;
- Commitment to delivering high level patient care as a positive team member as well as being respectful to all referring physicians and coworkers;
- Demonstrates EFW values of Compassion, Trust, and Meaning in the workplace;
- Adheres to all privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures as they relate to EFW, our patients and our employees;
- Administer medications as required and supervise patient reactions as needed.
- Undertakes other related duties as assigned.
You have the following
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in level 1 or 2 labour & delivery unit, or in ante-partum/post-partum/intra-partum;
- Relevant active professional registration to practice in Alberta ( CRNA with no limitations or disciplinary actions on record)
- Preferred Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing;
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification is an asset;
- Current experience in perinatal or obstetrical nursing;
- Preferred experience working in an outpatient setting;
- Organized individual with the ability to multi-task and maintain high level accuracy to detailed information by processing patient records correctly and efficiently;
- Motivated, self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as influence a team;
- Demonstrates family centered philosophy of care provision and able to work within a multidisciplinary outpatient setting with confidence and independence;
- Demonstrates supportive, nonjudgmental counselling skills to work with families under stress;
- Demonstrates ability to welcome change and manage it innovatively;
- Professional demeanor and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Hours of Work
EFW is dedicated to providing quality patient care with daytime, evening and weekend clinic hours throughout all of our clinic locations. All EFW Radiology employees working in, or providing shared services to, our community clinics shall participate in being scheduled in the evening or weekend shifts as required. Our employees must also be able to work at any EFW clinic location and provide their own transportation.
