About the role
We are looking for an experienced QA Analyst to join Common Wealth’s engineering team. You will play a key role in launching the technology that powers our retirement platform to help us drive toward a future where every Canadian can achieve financial security in retirement.
This role is primarily focused on manual testing on a 1 year contract. You will bring your depth of QA expertise to ensure our applications are functional, reliable, and delightful to use – across devices, browsers, and languages.
What you will do:
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans & test cases based on business and technical requirements
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and designers to ensure features meet acceptance criteria
- Validate functionality across numerous application permutations driven by varying account configurations
- Identify and log detailed defect reports (JIRA) and track them through resolution, and serving as the first line for investigating reports from users and internal teams
- Test across devices and browsers to validate responsive design
- Perform testing on web application and email to ensure accuracy in formatting and functionality.
- Work with monitoring & observability tools (eg. LogRocket, DataDog) to proactively identify errors before users log a complain
- Identify opportunities for improvements in both processes and products
- Operate independently as the sole QA on the team – planning, executing, and owning the quality process from end to end.
Who you are:
- Experienced QA Analyst: You have 5+ years of experience in quality assurance on web applications / SaaS platforms with a focus on manual testing
- Full Stack Testing Expertise: Comfortable testing across all layers of web application – UI, APIs (eg. Postman), and database (SQL queries).
- Strong Communicator: Experienced working both with technical & non-technical stakeholders, ability to communicate effectively with empathy
- Cross Device & Cross-Browser Testing: You have hands-on experience testing application across different devices, and browsers.
- Detail-Oriented & User Focused: You have a sharp eye for catching defects and inconsistencies, and you advocate for the best possible user experience
- Accessibility, Performance, and Security Minded: Knowledgeable in accessibility standards (eg. WCAG) and experience in performance & security testing of web applications.
