About the role

Title: After School Program Leader

Responsible to: Manager Before and After School Program

Role: Under the direction and supervision of the Manager of Before and After School Program and After School Program Lead, provide a safe and developmentally appropriate after school care program for Elementary School age children in the Tri-County Regional Centre for Education enrolled in the After School Program

Schedule: 2:15PM to 5:30PM – Monday to Friday

Required Qualifications

  • High school completion certificate
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working with children
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position, including ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Proven ability to communicate and work alongside diverse cultural and racial backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to value the voice and contribution of others while remaining open to corrective criticism
  • Establish and maintain a positive team environment with other ASP & TCRCE staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred Early Childhood Diploma or Equivalent
  • Completion of WHMIS and Food Handlers, or willingness to obtain upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe, caring, respectful, and stimulating environment for children attending the program.
  • Maintain a welcoming and clean environment for children and their families.
  • Develop and maintain a positive rapport with students, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Model and encourage respect for self and others.
  • Conflict management, when needed, between children, parents, and co-workers.
  • In partnership with other ASP staff, be responsible for attendance including sign in and check out of children to parents/guardians, recording data, and observations.
  • Supervision of children at all times.
  • Implementation of activities.
  • Administer medication as necessary following all guidelines.
  • Report and record any/all incidents concerning parents and/or children.
  • Have general knowledge regarding the program and its policies.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
