About the role

Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About The Role Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full Time Associate Director, Productivity Applications to join our dynamic Internal Customer Experience – Productivity Applications team.

The goal of the Productivity Applications team is to be influential change agents and enablers of a consumer experience for Canadian Blood Services employees to help deliver exceptional business solutions.

Reporting to the Director, Internal Customer Experience, you will be accountable for a varied portfolio of applications that enable many business functions including quality management, finance, human resources, supply chain, legal, administration, communications, and stakeholder relations. You will be expected to develop and evolve a forward-looking strategy that embodies on-premises commercial off the shelf (COTS) applications, hosted applications, cloud-based SaaS applications, and custom developed applications.

Formula for Success

  • Drawing on your ability to plan strategically, you will participate in strategic planning activities with business units to identify business objectives and anticipate technology need.
  • Building on your leadership skills, you will create and nurture a team of outcome-focused analysts that partner with the business to continuously improve, optimize and enhance business processes and employee’s use of enterprise applications.
  • Leveraging your expertise as a trusted advisor, you will serve as trusted advisor to business units and as facilitator to align IT initiatives to business strategy to ensure business priorities are met.
  • Applying your financial acumen, you will be responsible for meeting financial objectives by scheduling expenditures, forecasting requirements, analyzing variances, preparing budgets, initiating corrective actions.
  • Using your problem-solving mindset, you will investigate and recommend solutions for new capabilities and/or enhancements to existing capabilities.
  • Capitalizing on your knowledge of compliance, you will ensure the Productivity Applications function remains compliant to standards and regulatory requirements by integrating compliance requirements into application development processes.

Desired Education And Skills

  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a University Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. A Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) is an asset.
  • Seven or more years of experience designing and maintaining business applications in the supply chain, pharmaceutical, or biologics industries.
  • Expertise implementing and/or managing ERP, MRP, and SCM systems.
  • Knowledge of user experience design and customer service management
  • Product management experience is an asset.
  • Advanced organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and direct new programs and manage projects
  • Demonstrated experience in teaming up with SME’s and business partners to develop robust technical solutions that drive business outcomes and deliver exemplary user experiences.
  • Ability to lead programs independently, demonstrate initiative, assess priorities, see projects through to completion and meet deadlines.
