About the role
Position Summary
The Facility Operator is responsible for the handling, consolidating, and processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials received by the processing facilities in an effort to recycle their key components. These items could include but are not limited to used oils, antifreeze, aerosols and filters. The Facility Operator will also be required to operate a forklift and skid steer loader as needed. The successful candidate must display a focus on safety and efficiency in a team environment while performing moderately labour intensive and repetitive tasks in an outdoor facility setting.
This is a permanent full-time position. The regular work schedule is 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure waste is processed in a timely and safe manner.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks and containers.
- Ensure incoming waste conforms with acceptance protocols.
- Operation of processing machinery and equipment as required.
- Ensure safe operation and procedures are followed at all times.
- Complete paperwork correctly & ensure it is complete.
- Complete job hazard risk assessments.
- Promote and adopt a safety culture with all employees.
- Provide superior internal and external customer service.
- General shop clean up and maintenance.
- Other miscellaneous tasks as required.
Requirements and Experience
- Forklift, Loader and/or Skid Steer experience is a strong asset.
- Reliable transportation to get to the facility.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License is preferred.
- Physically fit with the ability to lift +50lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to complete meticulous paperwork forms.
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze, identify and solve problems.
- Able to work independently and in a team environment.
