About The Role Reporting to the Assistant Chief Operator, at the Bay Adelaide Centre and working within a team environment, this position performs and assists in maintenance routines on building equipment, tenant work orders & general maintenance. In your role you will be responsible for light bulb replacement, plumbing & mechanical repairs, window blind repairs, painting, and assisting the Building Operators and trades as requested. Performing regular preventative maintenance routines on building equipment and washroom deficiencies are also required. This position demands flexibility and the ability to multi-task while maintaining a positive and cooperative work attitude. This position will be on an 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm or from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm. The shifts are subject to change or rotation as determined by management.

What You’ll Do

  • Respond to Tenant requests related to plumbing, lighting, and basic maintenance repairs.
  • Performs washroom inspections and deficiency repairs including leaking faucets, flushometer adjustments, stall door repairs, napkin dispenser repairs, snaking of drains and fixture replacements.
  • Change filters on fans located throughout the complex based on predetermined frequencies.
  • Clean and maintain workshop, mechanical rooms, inventory rooms and storage rooms.
  • Perform preventative maintenance routines on building equipment.
  • Assist trades such as plumbers, electricians, mechanics, and life safety technicians.
  • Responsible for the order, delivery, installation, and billing of tenant requested supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned such as painting, roof maintenance, power washing and delivery of operational supplies to assigned mechanical rooms throughout the complex.

What You’ll Need

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 1-2 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Completion of Secondary education is required
  • Has successfully completed or currently working towards BES Operator Class II certification; or is willing to commit to obtaining this certification within the first two years.
  • Must have the ability to successfully complete any mandatory provided training courses.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Should any element of this Job Description conflict with the provisions of an applicable collective bargaining agreement, the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement will prevail.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Union Maintenance Technician position is $50,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Union Maintenance Technician position is $54,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
