About the role
Position Summary
The Welder is responsible for cutting and joining metals and other materials at our facilities with Mig Welding equipment. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential. The Welder is responsible for accurately laying out and welding materials according to customer specifications. The Welder must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment and follow all safety precautions.
This position is located at our Fort Erie Facility, 411 Central Ave, Fort Erie, ON
Position Functions
- Communicates with management, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
- Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventive maintenance functions on equipment.
- May perform other duties as assigned by management.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work in hot & cold temperatures
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks
Core Competencies
- Ability to follow oral & written instructions
- A firm knowledge with welding safety and OSHA requirements
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and be able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
- Must possess basic math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, conversions of fractions and decimals)
- Ability to work as a team player
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Welding Experience is an asset
