Job Description An integral member of the interdisciplinary assessment and treatment team. The OTA/PTA will play a key role in the treatment of individuals referred to IHS from insurers and employers. They will work along with the psychiatrists, psychologists, Social Workers, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to determine what the client needs clinically to make a full functional recovery – and liaise with external community healthcare providers and insurers to ensure a safe transition from our program to work and the community.

The role will work closely with clients, customers and other front-line clinicians of other disciplines to deliver a high quality, evidence-based program that focuses on returning clients to function and reducing impairment and disability – all in an innovative environment.

What You’ll Do Each Day

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team and report to OT and PT on treatment and recovery
  • Provide 1:1 and group treatment as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to discuss challenge cases and identify solutions
  • Provide clinical reports and document that assist with case management
  • Work with external groups including insurers and employers as directed

Educational Requirements

  • Certificate from recognized two-year OTA/PTA program
  • Dual trained active member of a multidisciplinary team, the OTA/PTA provides client centered care under direction and supervision of Occupational Therapist and/or Physiotherapist
  • Minimum three years of clinical experience

Qualifications

  • OTA/PTA with Psychosocial issues an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with a variety of injuries an asset
  • Experience working effectively within an inter-professional collaboration model
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to effectively interact with clients and external stakeholders
  • Provide goal-oriented treatment interventions to patient/family to support physical, emotional and cognitive needs of patients
  • Must possess excellent organizational, time management and critical thinking skills
  • Experience providing services with a strong quality improvement focus to third party payers including – preferred
  • Provides timely and astute information to relevant team members about patients’ performance.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement and evaluation
  • Contributes to the overall vision/mandate of the Program
  • Supervision of students as required
