Your role:
Based in Gaspé, you will report to the station’s Senior Manager and fulfill the role of Journalist, assigned to covering arts and culture for Radio-Canada's platforms.
You will develop your own stories covering a wide range of topics, ensuring content adheres to CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices. As a Reporter, you will work on multiple platforms to provide daily news coverage with clarity, depth, originality and accuracy.
You must also be able to work well in a team and on several stories at once, have strong organizational skills and be an excellent writer.
You must maintain a large network of contacts, pitch story ideas related to the Gaspésie region and provide in-depth and follow-up reporting.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Three (3) years’ journalism experience or equivalent.
- One year of experience in cultural journalism (an asset)
Skills:
- Good general and current-events knowledge.
- Good knowledge of local, Quebec, Canadian and international cultural and artistic circles;
- Solid command of writing and story research techniques.
- Creative, enterprising and inquisitive approach to fact-gathering.
- Very good knowledge of the Gaspésie region and its key players.
- Solid command of French (working language): outstanding spelling and grammar skills; advanced oral and writing proficiency.
- Knowledge of English language (an asset)
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment while being a resourceful self-starter
- Excellent attitude and work ethic.
- Strong personal initiative and independence in creating digital content.
- Social media knowledge.
- Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.
Selected candidates will be tested as follows:
- Journalistic tests
- Interview.
