Key Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mill. The uranium milled at Key Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. The Role
Cameco is seeking a skilled specialist, control systems, to join our maintenance engineering team at the Key Lake operation. In this role, you’ll play a key part in developing and optimizing process control systems that support safe, reliable, and efficient production. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced industrial technologies and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to enhance operational performance.
In this role, you will:
- Develop, maintain, and optimize process control systems and strategies.
- Be responsible for industrial control systems programming, networking, and server administration.
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams to improve operational controls and production predictability.
Required:
-
Diploma in related field (instrumentation technology, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or process control);
-
Two to six years of progressive experience in the field of industrial control and/or operational technology systems, including PLC/HMI/DeltaV DCS programming and architecture management with good troubleshooting abilities;
-
Experience with industrial instrumentation and industrial data protocols such as Modbus, OPC, HART, Ethernet/IP, BACnet, Profibus;
-
Experience with industrial networking, including configuration of switches, firewalls, and hardware to support communication between industrial communication protocols; and
-
Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
Recommended:

Knowledge of virtualization and industrial cybersecurity;
-
Experience with administration of users and user groups in industrial control systems;
-
Knowledge and experience with scripting languages used in industrial systems such as VBScript and Python;
-
Experience in Schneder Electric PLCs;
-
Good knowledge in AutoCAD;
-
Some experience in SAP or Maximo;
-
Experience with integrating enterprise historians (such as Aveva PI or Canary Labs data historian) with industrial controls systems; and
-
Experience maintaining industrial systems that include advanced process control and control loop optimization.

Preference will be given to Residents of Saskatchewan’s North (RSN).
The Key Lake operation is located in northern Saskatchewan and operates on a two week on/two week off rotational schedule. Employees commute to the site by aircraft from designated locations in Saskatchewan.
