Located in Coquitlam, our Purchasing Team is seeking a Purchasing Specialist. The successful incumbent will be responsible for efficiently purchasing material, equipment, and other requirements for projects and the company operations efficiently while ensuring profitability.

Job Responsibilities:

• Identify and select suppliers meeting criteria such as specification, price, quantity, quality and delivery as needed
• Develop and maintain supplier and manufacturer relationships
• Utilizes relationships and awareness of market to streamline current processes and introduce initiatives to create value and overall efficiencies
• Review supplier quotes, negotiate, and issue purchase orders
• Successfully negotiate job contract pricing below estimated costs
• Manage the lifecycle of the Purchase Order including supplier confirmation, necessary revisions, tracking material delivery, back order management, invoice review and resolving discrepancies with suppliers
• Communicate the status of purchase orders to appropriate stakeholders
• Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities in the system and generate reports as necessary
• Assist with Accounts Payable entries and inquiries as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3-5 years proven experience as a Purchasing Specialist or in a similar purchasing role
• Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication in English
• Previous experience with ERP software (Jonas) preferred
• Ability to solve problems using good judgment
• Experience with Jonas Construction Management Software is an asset
