The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Revenue/Deputy Treasurer this role is responsible for oversight of the Revenue division including supervising and performing duties related to corporate revenue, cash handling, property tax billings, arrears, collection and property assessment-based management protection and other revenue related activities. This position ensures effective and efficient customer service delivery and is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to a team.
As the Supervisor, Revenue you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
Functional Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supervising the function of the Town's Revenue division including property taxation, accounts receivable and corporate cash receipting and related billing and collections activities.
- Administers the Town's tax policy including the calculation of property tax rates and tax ratios and conducts Payment In Lieu of taxes billings.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of information in the property tax system including calculating and printing tax bills, month-end and year-end procedures, maintenance updating and changes, preparing and mailing past-due notices, administering of property tax rebate programs and the calculation and billing of appeals and supplementary tax assessments.
- Provide leadership and expertise in matters related to processes, accounting, and controls as they relate to property taxation, cash management, revenue recognition, internal department billings and donations.
- Participates in inter-departmental teams to provide support, advice, and direction regarding revenue related practices in order to implement corporate goals.
- Maintains accounting and reconciliation of property tax, accounts receivable and other revenue related sub-ledgers to ensure accuracy and completeness and completes the Financial Information Return (FIR) as related to revenue functions.
- Sets annual property tax rates for Town and Region to raise required amounts of budget.
- Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an experienced professional with post-secondary degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or closely related field. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of five (5) years related experience in Municipal Taxation and Municipal Finance and a minimum of one (3) year experience in a management or supervisory capacity.
Certified Municipal Revenue Professional (CMRP) designation with successful progress to the Certified Municipal Revenue Professional (CMRP) designation.
The ideal candidate will have experience developing and improving financial and administrative processes. We are seeking an individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to ensure suitable agreements, decisions are reached.
The successful candidate for Supervisor, Revenue will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
This position offers a salary range of $103,595.84 to $129,494.80 plus a competitive benefit package.
Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
