We are seeking a creative, dynamic and committed educators to submit an Expression of Interest for Continuing Education:

Winter 2026 Night School (VIRTUAL) - Secondary Teacher Overview The Winter 2026 Night School program offers Reach Ahead courses in the following subjects: Guidance and Career Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences and Humanities, ESL, as well as the Ontario Secondary School Literacy course. The Winter 2026 Night School program for students will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning Thursday, February 19, 2026, and ending on Thursday, May 28, 2026. There will be a paid staff meeting prior to the start of the Night School classes on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm via Google Meet . Employment Start Date : February 17 (Staff Meeting Evening)

Instructional Delivery Dates : February 19 - May 28, 2026 (27 nights)

Program location : Virtual

Class times : 5:30 pm - 9:21 pm

Pay rate : $56.84/hour + 4% in lieu of vacation

Each evening includes 3.85 hours of instruction. Teachers will deliver the assigned credit virtually through both Synchronous and Asynchronous platforms following a PREDETERMINED schedule . Google Classroom is the sole Learning Management Platform, including Google Meet, for teacher and student engagement. Teachers are permitted should they wish to incorporate other OCDSB vetted applications and resources only available through the District’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Please note: As the program is offered through a virtual format, teachers must have access to a secure, reliable internet connection. Remuneration for internet access is not part of the program.

As per Article 40.02 (c) of the collective agreement, and in the event that the Employer cancels two (2) or more days/evenings of Continuing Education courses as a result of unforeseen circumstances beyond its control, Continuing Education teachers will be required to attend and teach one replacement evening. The Winter 2026 Night School Session replacement date is Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Application Process This is the only posting for the Winter 2026 Night School Session . All interested teachers, with or without Continuing Education (CE) Seniority, must apply to this posting following its posting guidelines. Late applications cannot be considered. Applicants MUST hold Senior qualifications with the Ontario College of Teachers (in good standing) at the time of application that are featured on their Ontario Qualification Record Card. As per the Collective Agreement, article 40.02 (a - ii), applicants with CE Seniority who appear on the October 2025 Continuing Education Seniority List and hold the required qualifications will be considered first for teaching positions..

Where positions remain after all CE Seniority teachers who applied to this posting have been placed, remaining applicants will be offered positions according to their OCT qualifications as required by the remaining positions in accordance with Policy Equitable Recruitment, Hiring and Promotion.

Staffing Survey: Shortly after the posting closes, all applicants will receive a follow-up email with a link to a short survey confirming their availability for night school.

Staffing Timelines Following staffing requirements and obligations, staffing timelines for Night School are very constrained. Offers of work will be emailed to teachers to the email provided in Apply to Education (ATE) by the Principal of Continuing Education and will begin no earlier than January 21, 2026, but could be as late as Thursday, February 19, 2026. Upon receipt, teachers will have 24 hours to respond to the offer. Where acceptances are not received within the timeframe specified in the email, it will be assumed that you are declining the offer of work.

PLEASE NOTE: As a condition of employment, all new employees will be required to submit a recent Police Record Check for the vulnerable sector prior to their start date with the OCDSB.
