We are currently looking for a skilled and dedicated individual to grow our team and ensure that Dias is a great place to work.

The Project Accountant is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the financial and operational performance of projects. This role provides management with actionable insights into project outcomes, identifies strengths and areas for improvement, and recommends changes to enhance future performance. In addition, the Project Accountant will manage customer invoicing in alignment with project contracts, maintain the general ledger, and support other financial and operational reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities

Project Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and analyze project financial results, including actual vs. budget performance, cost trends, and profitability.
  • Report on project outcomes, highlighting deficiencies, successes, and key performance indicators.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management for improving operational efficiency and project profitability.
  • Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate tracking of project costs and revenue recognition.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements in project reporting.

Customer Invoicing & Contract Compliance

  • Prepare and issue invoices to customers based on project contracts and milestones.
  • Ensure billing aligns with contractual terms, project deliverables, and client expectations.
  • Monitor accounts receivable related to project billings and assist in collections as needed.

General Ledger & Accounting Support

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to projects and operations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness of project-related entries.
  • Support audit and compliance requirements by preparing documentation and responding to information requests.

Other Duties

  • Support the preparation of financial and operational reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline financial processes and reporting systems.
  • Participate in the development of financial tools and dashboards to enhance project visibility and performance tracking.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CPA designation or candidate preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in project accounting, operations accounting, or financial reporting (experience in engineering, geophysical, or project-based industries is an asset).
  • Strong understanding of project cost accounting, revenue recognition, and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
