About the role
Liability and Closure Summer Student (Environmental Stream) Roles and Responsibilities
As a summer student within the Liability and Closure team at Tourmaline (environmental stream), you will have
the opportunity to contribute to Tourmaline’s legacy liability reduction initiatives through various environmental
assessment, remediation, and reclamation related activities and projects. This role will primarily work in
conjunction with Tourmaline Remediation and Reclamation Coordinators and Reclamation Superintendents to
provide support to the overall portfolio of sites moving towards reclamation. This role will also provide opportunity
for office and field-based technical learning and development.
Key Accountabilities:
Provide support for the management, coordination, and execution of environmental site assessments,
remediation, and reclamation activities, including:
o Review of Tourmaline site statuses/current milestones to ensure accuracy within the internally
developed Site Closure & Environmental Management App. (SCEMA) and related BI reports.
Update SCEMA site/stage/milestone statuses utilizing a variety of information sources.
Add sites to SCEMA as needed to ensure area-based closure programs are
comprehensive in capturing all land use dispositions for closure.
- Complete file cleanups for projects that are in progress or
completed/reclamation certified.
- Verify SCEMA inclusion and tracking of all licenced Cancelled with Surface
Disturbance (CWSD) sites.
- Verify SCEMA inclusion and tracking of all licenced reclamation certified sites.
Review SCEMA BI reports for accuracy and support their development.
- Coordinate ongoing improvements with Tourmaline data analysts and Power
Platform developers and assist in communicating improvements to the team.
o Engage with third-party environmental consulting companies to progress identified
projects/closure programs.
Support Phase 1/Stage 1 report reviews and post-reclamation activities.
Help ensure accurate, timely, and consistent site status/cost reporting within SCEMA.
o Refine annual site lists for Liability and Closure vegetation management/weed spraying, and
coordinate lists with Production Operations group to ensure all sites are captured.
o Work with Liability and Closure team members and Surface Land to assist in obtaining necessary
agreements and to identify issues/roadblocks prior to project execution.
Assist in reviewing and documenting access conditions to sites in upcoming closure
programs.
Review sites and document potential issues/roadblocks (e.g., access, camp, crossings,
temporary workspace requirements, etc.).
o Assist in reviewing project budgets, making AFE requests, and verifying invoices for
environmental related closure work.
Help to develop and maintain guidance and process documents for various tasks related to the role.
Provide other support as needed for Remediation and Reclamation Coordinators, Reclamation
Superintendents, and other Tourmaline team members.

Qualifications:
Ability to work from Tourmaline’s Calgary head office (note: this is an office-based role with opportunity
for periodic field visits/exposure).
0-3 years experience in the oil and gas industry in a related field with some technical knowledge of
environmental assessment, remediation, and/or reclamation projects.
1-4 years of progress towards an Engineering or Environmental/other Sciences Degree, technical diploma
or equivalent.
Familiarity with AB (AER), BC (BCER), and SK (MER) regulations pertaining to the remediation and
reclamation of upstream oil and gas sites would be considered an asset.
Team oriented individual with a desire to learn and continuously improve.
Can work independently in a high volume and fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and highly organized with an appreciation for tight deadlines and delivering
results.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to respond quickly to queries.
Additional Information:
Job term planned to run from early May to late August, 2026 (4 month contract).
