WHATS THE TEAM LIKE
The Leadership team at the Calgary Airport Authority is structured to ensure operational excellence, risk management, and strategic alignment across technology initiatives. Within this framework, the General Manager of Project Governance Assurance role is designed to oversee governance standards, compliance, and assurance processes for major projects, ensuring they meet organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creating and maintain governance structures, controls, and reporting mechanisms for investment and service improvement programs.
- Developing and continuously improve the Project Delivery Framework to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
- Managing, developing and overseeing the reporting and forecasting cycles for projects including financial and schedule forecasts along with the associated variance analysis. In collaboration with Finance, HR, Central Engine and other stakeholder groups, develop, oversee and deliver ad-hoc project reporting for the purposes of planning and forecasting against strategic priorities.
- Providing leadership, direction and support to team members, including Project Managers and Business Analysts across the organization.
- Coordinating, executing, and overseeing of the Authority’s Long-Term Project and Operational Planning program.
- Collaborating with senior leaders, steering committees, and project teams to create alignment and accountability across all levels to ensure stakeholder engagement.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, project management, or equivalent education or equivalent skills and relevant work experiences. (Required).
- At least 8 years of experience in a similar role overseeing long term and capital projects in similar organization.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management role.
- Strong experience in project management, including PM methodology, budgeting, contracting, documentation, communication and other day to day project management activities
- Proven track record of success in business planning, work planning, operational management and execution of strategic initiatives.
- Strong understanding of governance procedures, change management and project management methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Experience in risk management, compliance, and performance reporting
WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET
- Bilingual in English and French
- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) is highly desirable.
- Experience having lead and managed change management processes.
