Position Overview: Finning Canada is currently looking for a dedicated Journeyperson Heavy Duty Rental Mechanic who will be responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of a variety of Cat Rental Store equipment (construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps, etc.) to join our growing team in Saskatoon.

Job Description: Major Job Functions

  • Maintenance and repair tasks on product line ranging from construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps to compact construction equipment (e.g. Mini excavators and skid steers
  • Perform a wide variety of equipment repair diagnostics
  • Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
  • Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
  • Interact with internal and external customers
  • Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required

Specific Skills & Experience

  • Must possess the technical knowledge to perform service tasks on our product line ranging from construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps to compact construction equipment (e.g. Mini excavators and skid steers,)
  • Aerial work platform equipment as well as knowledge of diesel generators 8 KW to 200 KW
  • Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
  • Completion of Caterpillar product courses would be considered an asset
  • Previous repair and troubleshooting experience with Caterpillar general line products would be considered an asset
  • Capable of working evening, night shifts as well as performing after hours service calls, weekends inclusive
  • Good understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Thorough knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine electronic management systems
