Summary The Infrastructure Team Lead is responsible for the hands-on management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Keilhauer’s IT infrastructure across all sites. This includes servers, cloud services, networking equipment, security systems, voice communications, and end-user computing environments. Reporting to the VP Technology & Facilities, this role leads a small infrastructure team consisting of an Infrastructure Support Specialist and a Helpdesk Technician.
In this role, you are both a technical leader and a working contributor. You will spend the majority of your time on hands-on infrastructure work—administering Azure and Microsoft 365 environments, managing network security through FortiGate firewalls and ADVPN, maintaining Hyper-V virtualization, and ensuring the reliability of systems that support Keilhauer’s manufacturing operations. You will also mentor and develop your direct reports, manage escalations, and coordinate coverage to ensure continuous IT service delivery.
This position is best suited to an experienced infrastructure professional who thrives in a hands-on environment with a small team. You are a strong communicator who can translate technical complexity into practical solutions, and you take pride in keeping systems running efficiently. Primary Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management & Administration

Administers and maintains Keilhauer’s Microsoft 365 and Azure environment, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Intune.

Manages on-premises and hybrid infrastructure including Hyper-V virtualization, Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.

Administers and monitors network infrastructure including FortiGate firewalls, ADVPN site-to-site connectivity, managed switches, wireless access points, and VLANs across all Keilhauer facilities.

Implements and maintains IT security measures including endpoint protection, multi-factor authentication, conditional access policies, and backup/disaster recovery procedures.

Manages Teams Phone system, including call routing, auto-attendants, and user provisioning.

Administers server infrastructure supporting SyteLine ERP, Windchill PLM, and other business-critical applications in coordination with the Business Systems team.

Ensures infrastructure supporting SolidWorks PDM and engineering tools operates reliably and performantly.

Conducts capacity planning for network bandwidth, storage, compute resources, and cloud services.

Manages vendor relationships for infrastructure services, warranties, and support agreements.

Team Leadership & Development

Provides day-to-day leadership and mentorship to the Infrastructure Support Specialist and Helpdesk Technician.

Assigns and prioritizes work, manages escalations, and ensures service level expectations are met.

Develops team members through coaching, knowledge sharing, and structured professional development plans; guides the Infrastructure Support Specialist along their progression path to Systems Administrator.

Coordinates team coverage for vacations, absences, and on-call responsibilities to ensure continuous service delivery.

Provides hands-on helpdesk coverage as needed during periods of high volume or staff absence.

Documents infrastructure configurations, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides to build team knowledge and reduce single points of failure.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

Plans and executes infrastructure projects including system upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments.

Researches and recommends infrastructure improvements, new technologies, and cost optimization opportunities.

Provides input into IT budgeting for infrastructure-related capital and operational expenditures.

Collaborates with the VP Technology & Facilities and Business Systems team on cross-functional technology initiatives aligned with Keilhauer’s strategic objectives.

Prepares progress reports and project updates for leadership.

Monitors software licensing compliance and manages infrastructure-related software assets.
Qualifications
-
7+ years’ progressive experience in IT infrastructure, including hands-on experience with Microsoft cloud and hybrid environments.

3+ years’ experience in a team lead or senior technical role with responsibility for mentoring and directing the work of others.

Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Strong experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Entra ID).

Strong experience with Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP in hybrid environments.
-
Experience with Hyper-V virtualization and server infrastructure management.
-
Experience with network administration including firewalls (FortiGate preferred), VPN, VLANs, and managed switching.

Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
-
Experience supporting ERP and PLM system infrastructure is an asset; previous experience with SyteLine and Windchill is a strong asset.

Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS This role is performed primarily in an office environment which is typically quiet. Most of your duties will be fulfilled with the use of a computer and office equipment, with communications taking place by phone, email or in person. Some functions of your role will be conducted in the manufacturing facilities, where you may be exposed to dust particulates, noise and heat.
- This position requires frequent, dynamic interaction through face-to-face contact, email and phone communications.
- Must be capable of traveling to other locations as required to perform job function.
- Must be able to handle frequent interruptions to planned work activities, often without prior notice.
