The Parkland School Division has two temporary part-time (0.286 FTE) School Bus Site Monitor positions available at Copperhaven School in Spruce Grove, Alberta. These positions will remain open until all successful applicants have been hired; if interested, please apply ASAP. As these are temporary positions, there are no benefits or leave entitlements included.
Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Transportation Services Supervisor:
Provides site safety supervision of students loading and unloading at a designated bus transfer site. Performs routine duties and tasks with little or no direct supervision. Acts in a professional manner and maintains a professional attitude towards students, drivers, staff, parents and members of the public and colleagues and exhibits the fundamentals of good public/customer service.
Typical Duties
Monitoring bus loading/unloading area(s). Monitoring student movement into and out of the transfer area. Maintains order and behavior of children at the transfer site. Maintains contact with students, drivers, staff, parents, and public members. Contacting student caregivers in the event of missed transportation. Monitoring and reporting of student misconduct.
Knowledge & Skills
This position requires:
a high school diploma and/or equivalency, supplemented with child development training/knowledge. Minimum one year related supervisory experience would be an asset
This Position Requires High Levels Of
Oral and written communication skills Innovation Teamwork Customer-service skills Interpersonal skills
An ability to prioritize effectively with excellent organizational skills would be a definite asset.
Communications & Responsibility
The focus of this position is to:
Provide effective safety procedures to students, drivers, staff, parents and members of the public. Confidentiality and judgement must be exercised effectively. Learns and remains up-to-date on School Division policies and procedures and Provincial laws and regulations regarding pupil transportation. Notifies the specific school administration of any discipline problems that are developing. Reports all safety problems and potential safety problems to the Transportation Services Supervisor. Participates in appropriate training, workshops and staff development activities and applies what is learned to the job; accepts new challenges in a professional manner.
Locations of Work:
School Bus Transfer Station at Copperhaven School
Hours of Work: 10 hours/week. Time of work: 7:50 am – 8:50 am and 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
Pay Rate: 19.45/hr
This position requires a current clean criminal record check and child intervention record check
