We are seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to support fixed and pressure equipment integrity at our Mildred Lake and Aurora sites. In this role, you will develop, implement, and continuously improve RBI- and RCM-based asset strategies, execute the full asset strategy lifecycle from criticality assessment through performance optimization, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance safety, reliability, and operational performance.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Materials, or Metallurgical Engineering and registered, or immediately eligible for registration, with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
- 7 years of industrial experience supporting fixed and pressure equipment integrity and reliability, including piping systems, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and tanks
- Demonstrated experience applying reliability and risk assessment methodologies, including RBI, RCM, FMEA, RCA, and asset criticality assessments, as well as supporting inspection and fitness‑for‑service evaluations
- Strong knowledge of materials selection, damage mechanisms, pressure equipment inspection practices, and applicable industry codes and regulatory requirements (ASME, API, CSA, ABSA), along with Management of Change (MOC) processes
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and operational stakeholders to support safety, compliance, and reliability objectives

Responsibilities:
- Provide reliability engineering and asset strategy support for piping systems, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and tanks across Mildred Lake and Aurora sites.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement (“evergreening”) of equipment strategies using RBI, RCM, and the Manage Equipment Strategy OEMS process
- Execute the full asset strategy lifecycle, including asset criticality assessments, strategy development and implementation, and ongoing performance monitoring, analysis, and optimization
- Support and standardize the implementation of GE‑APM Strategy and Integrity modules as part of the transition from PESTRA to GE‑APM.
- Ensure equipment strategies comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Partner with Production Unit Teams and cross‑functional stakeholders to align integrity and reliability strategies with site safety, availability, and operational goals.
Location and other Key Details:
- Syncrude Mildred Lake site, Fort McMurray, Alberta
- Hours of work are a Regular 40‑hour work week, Monday to Friday, extended hours may be required based on business needs and turnaround support
- Standard hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
- This position is a safety sensitive role and in alignment with Suncor’s value of Safety Above All Else, employment is conditional upon successful completion of: Pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing
