Position Summary
We are looking for an IT Data Engineering Intern based at our North York Location from May to August 2026.

A day in the life of a IT Data Engineering Intern
As a Data Engineering Intern, you will be working on the development, support and documentation of data pipelines in cloud.

You will also:

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining data models for advanced analytics.

  • Analyze data and data structures, as well as the design and build of all forms of database schemas (relational, OLAP, Big Data etc.) to support a wide range of strategies for secure data acquisition, data cleansing and blending, data storage, analysis and modelling.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and written, and ability to present to all level of stakeholders throughout the organization.

  • Translate technical requirements in a non-technical way to business stakeholders.

  • Engage with stakeholders as appropriate to ensure business understanding and stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Work closely with team of experts, locally and remotely to ensure quality and timeliness of data.

  • Designing and supporting cloud data pipelines in Microsoft Azure, Databricks and Snowflake using a mix of SQL, Python, ETL and Data Warehousing concepts.

What will make you successful?
As the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to support research into recyclable materials, complete analysis to validate current and potential materials and provide support to corporate engineering with their on-going projects.

You will also:

  • Currently enrolled in relevant technology programs such as Applied Statistics, Mathematics and/or Computer Science, Engineering.

  • Previous Engineering experience is an asset, but not mandatory.

  • Involvement in extracurricular activities which demonstrate initiative and leadership.

  • Team player with demonstrated ability to work effectively across all functions and levels.

  • Fast learner, and must be comfortable working within a dynamic, challenging environment.

  • A results and detail-oriented professional with strong analytical, problem solving skills and strong attention to detail

  • Computer literate (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).

  • Basic understanding of data warehousing and ETL concepts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of SQL and familiarity with Python programming language.

  • Exposure to Microsoft Cloud System- Azure and Azure Databricks.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Basic understanding of Distributed processing system such as Apache Spark.

  • Curious and an innovate mindset to drive improvements in existing processes.
