Job Summary: The Baycrest Foundation provides crucial funding to the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care. The Foundation solicits funds from donors either through direct solicitation or through events.
The Stewardship Specialist, as a member of the Major Gifts/Principal Giving team, contributes to the successful operation of a comprehensive stewardship program, ensuring that the Foundation exceeds donor expectations in the ways that we acknowledge, recognize, engage and are accountable to our donors.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Multi-Channel Reporting & Innovation: Develop and deliver stewardship and impact reporting through interactive PDFs, video storytelling, infographics, and digital dashboards. Experiment with new tools and formats to enhance transparency and donor engagement.
- Enhanced Writing & Content Development: Draft, edit, and refine donor communications including impact reports, case summaries, stewardship stories, and personalized correspondence. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure all materials highlight philanthropic impact and align with organizational priorities.
- Digital & Experiential Stewardship: Lead digital, written, and experiential recognition initiatives to create personalized, scalable donor touchpoints, moving beyond traditional physical recognition.
- Expanded Storytelling: Capture and share donor and program stories across digital platforms, social media, newsletters, and microsites to showcase real-world outcomes of giving.
- Data, Metrics & Analytics: Track and analyze engagement with stewardship materials (e.g., open rates, video views). Prepare leadership dashboards, stewardship metrics, and donor impact summaries to inform strategy and Board reporting.
- Strategic Stewardship Planning: Maintain and monitor a stewardship calendar to enhance the cadence and quality of donor reporting. Develop templates, style guides, and content libraries to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Identify, pilot, and implement new stewardship tools and approaches (e.g., interactive reports, video thank-you campaigns) to create a modern, impactful donor experience.
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
- University degree or recognized or equivalent in a related field of study
- Minimum three (3) years direct donor experience in the not-for-profit sector.
- Excellent writing skills, particularly for fundraising
- Excellent project management skills
- Knowledge of principles and techniques relevant to major gift fundraising.
- Experience working with volunteers is an asset
- Experience with InDesign and/or Photoshop an asset
- Member of ADRP and/or AFP an asset
- Proficient computer skills and the ability to work with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point
- Exceptional attention to detail, both in terms of data accuracy and creative aesthetics
- Ability to work independently and accurately as well as solve problems effectively
- Excellent multi-tasking skills with the ability to handle competing priorities effectively in a busy and fluid work environment.
Compensation: At Baycrest, we take pride in ensuring our compensation structure is internally equitable and compliant with pay equity legislation. We believe compensation should be transparent, equitable, and reflective of your experience and growth. Our salary ranges are structured to support progression, from learning the role to demonstrating full proficiency.
For this position, the salary range is $71,208 to $89,010. The target hiring range is $71,208 to $78,000 per year.
Your placement within the target hiring range will depend on your job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, and relevant education and experience, as well as considerations such as market conditions and internal equity. The starting salary will be determined using these factors to ensure fairness and consistency across the organization.
