Are you a compassionate and dedicated Primary Care Nurse looking for a flexible yet fulfilling role? We are currently seeking a permanent part-time nurse to join our dynamic team, with an exciting opportunity to temporarily step into full-time hours for an 18-month maternity leave coverage. This role primarily involves weekday shifts from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts (4:30 PM to 8:00 PM) and weekend mornings (Saturday or Sunday, 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM). Primary Responsibility: The Clinic Nurse is required to work within their scope of practice and co-operatively with all members of the health care team delivering excellent patient-centered care. As a key member and integral part of the health care team, your focus is supporting our patients to maximize their health and wellness. Collaborating with the physician and other staff to ensure efficient clinical care and use of resources by maintaining office organization and patient flow while adhering to strict confidentiality policies.
Tasks and Duties:
- All technical duties within the scope of a registered practical nurse.
- Keep an inventory of office drugs, immunizations and other supplies used to assist in office procedures.
- Place time sensitive orders for medical supplies.
- Respect the dignity and privacy of patients by maintaining strict confidentiality of personal health information.
- Responsible for the initial processing through the EMR system and updating and documenting patient information as necessary, obtaining results of diagnostic investigations prior to patient’s appointments. This may include using the hospital EMR (EPIC) as well.
- Liaison with referring physicians and other nurse and office staff in a cordial manner.
- Deliver service to both patients and fellow Clinic members by engaging in positive interactions and following through on promises made in a thoughtful, efficient, timely and courteous manner so that their experience is better than expected.
- Ensure all medical services performed by physicians are entered into the system for OHIP and third-party billing.
- Prep/tidy exam rooms, direct patients to ensure there is continuous patient flow.
- Schedule tests and procedures as necessary. Assist physician with exams and patient counselling.
- Maintain incoming mail, faxes, documents, tasks, meeting schedules.
- Help patients in distress by responding to emergency codes within the building.
- Scanning patient records for document retention.
- Any other duties needed to ensure consistent operation of the Clinic.
