Department: EllisDon Facilities Services (Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital)

Status: Fulltime - Temporary (3 - 6 month contract)

Hours: Monday to Friday 7am - 3pm

You As a Painter Will

  • Apply coats of paint to exterior and interior surfaces
  • Achieve special effects such as woodgrain, marble, tile, or brick utilizing cloth, brush, sponge, fingers and other accessories or tools.
  • Paint, varnish, stain, enamel, lacquer, and redecorate walls, woodworks, fixtures and furniture of the buildings and facilities using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Select premixed paint or mixes paints to achieve desired color
  • Fill nails holes, joints and cracks in walls and prefabricated partitions with plaster and other fillers, remove and repair loose sections or damaged plaster, drywall, or ceiling throughout the hospital
  • Lay vinyl floor tiles and sheets, ceramic tiles, mosaic tile, acoustic tile and installs baseboards
  • Install and hang up bulletin boards, white board, picture frame, shelves, signs, washroom accessories, etc.
  • Keep work area orderly, clean, and safe
  • Participate in the development of maintenance programs, work schedules, and maintains records as required.
  • Assist other personnel as required or may be called on to do other duties as required by the Maintenance Dept

Is this the right role for you?

  • Mandatory: Certificate of qualification as painter/ Decorator (Commercial/ Residential)
  • Minimum: Ability to read, write and speak English fluently. Demonstrated ability to paint, and utilize tools of the trade such as paint tinting machinery, paint brushes, spray guns mixers, ladders, etc.
