Title: Office Assistant–Tournament Support
Position: SEASONAL, Full Time
Expected Placement (subject to change): Mid-April–September 2026
Location: Spruce Meadows, 18011 Spruce Meadows Way SW, Calgary, AB T2X 4B7
Wage: $22 per hour
Spruce Meadows is looking to hire individuals for the role of Tournament Support. This position offers the opportunity to work both behind the scenes and front of house, supporting the success of our outdoor show jumping season.Based in the Tournament Office, this role works closely with athletes and utilises our horse show management system to support entries, scheduling, and daily competition operations.A strong understanding of show jumping, along with solid computer skills and attention to detail, is essential. The ideal candidate is organised, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced, team environment.
####Role Overview & Availability Expectations
Spruce Meadows is a world-renowned show jumping venue located in the southwest corner of Calgary, Alberta, which holds a number of tournaments throughout the year. Events are held on weekends; therefore, it is necessary to be available to work weekends, overtime, early mornings, mornings, days, and evenings/nights. Shifts will fluctuate to coincide with the 2026 Spruce Meadows Tournaments season.
##RESPONSIBILITIES (included, but are not limited to)
- Demonstrate an understanding of the sport of show jumping to effectively support athletes and tournament operations.
- Maintain a professional demeanour in all situations.
- Prepare materials required for tournaments and on-ring awards presentations, including data entry, payment processing, and compliance checks.
- Assist competitors and their associates with daily requests and inquiries.
- Work within tournament computer systems to manage entries, information, and reporting accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure the Spruce Meadows standard is upheld across all aspects of tournament operations, including customer service, supplies, equipment, building conditions, and overall cleanliness.
- Provide front desk reception support, including answering tournament phone lines, directing calls, filing, and performing administrative tasks.
- Assist other departments as required.
- Record and report all areas of concern to supervisors or designated personnel promptly.
- Follow all Spruce Meadows accounting procedures when executing financial processes.
- Communicate professionally and effectively in all Spruce Meadows interactions.
##MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Full availability during contract dates
- High school diploma
- Reliable transportation to and from work and a valid Class 5 driver’s license (there is no public transit available to Spruce Meadows)
- Driver’s abstract
- Available to work weekends, evenings, late nights, early morning, on call
- Comfortable with working outdoors in all weather conditions including (but not limited to): hot, cold, wet and dry as well as dusty and noisy areas.
- Organizational proficiency
- Ability to multi-task and meet short deadlines
- Strong time management skills
- Communication in basic English (oral)
- Strong team approach and willingness to assist others when necessary
- Ability to problem solve and exhibit conflict resolution skills
- Current certificate in Standard First Aid & CPR Level C (Asset)
- Ability to speak a second language fluently (Asset)

- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Ability to work collaboratively or alone in a fast-paced environment.

- Comfortable with working outdoors in all weather conditions, including (but not limited to) hot, cold, wet and dry as well as dusty and noisy areas
- Comfortable around animals
- Ability to work long hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends during and leading up to tournaments
