The Ministry of Justice and Attorney General provides a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan; promotes safe and secure communities; and provides legal and justice policy advice to government.

The Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) conducts investigations under the authority of S.91.08 of The Police Act, 1990 into incidents involving serious injury or death of any person, or any matter of significant public interest that may have resulted from the actions of a police officer or special constable.

As an Information Administrator, you will play an essential role in enhancing public confidence in policing and ensuring police accountability by assisting with the management and disclosure of electronic evidence obtained during SIRT’s investigations.

Reporting to the Civilian Executive Director, the Information Administrator will:

  • Capture, manage, vet, and disclose investigative documents, multimedia, and digital evidence in accordance with disclosure requirements.
  • Prepare organized, indexed, and searchable electronic disclosure packages using approved digital tools.
  • Retrieve, process, and manage digital evidence, including Body-Worn Camera footage, through systems such as RMS or Axon Evidence.
  • Administer investigative records under the Major Case Management (MCM) model, ensuring accurate data input, linking, storage, and security.
  • Perform quality-assurance reviews and audits of investigative files for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to business rules.
  • Maintain and support the SIRT major case management database, including generating data reports and managing access permissions.
  • Provide first-line technical support for investigators and staff related to case-management software, redaction tools, and digital evidence systems.
  • Develop and deliver training, guides, and troubleshooting materials for internal and external partners.
  • Liaise with Crown prosecutors, defence counsel, police agencies, and justice partners to ensure timely disclosure and secure information transfer.
  • Provide operational and technical support during call-outs and investigative deployments as directed.
  • Ensure all outgoing disclosures are securely packaged, tracked, and properly documented.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Diploma in legal assistant/paralegal studies, records/information management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with criminal justice disclosure processes, including document intake, indexing, redaction, and secure distribution.
  • Experience with major case or investigative file management systems.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Understanding of disclosure law and practice, including Stinchcombe, Charter obligations, and relevant legislation.
  • Proficiency with electronic major case management systems, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and time-management skills with close attention to detail.

Assets

  • Knowledge of the Criminal Code, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Canada Evidence Act, and the principles of Major Case Management (MCM).
  • Experience in investigations involving major case disclosure.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the law enforcement databases in use in Saskatchewan, such as CPIC, PROS, IEIS, or SIMS.
  • Experience using, or familiarity with CJIMS.
  • Experience using Agnovi X-Fire.
  • Knowledge of The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional travel within Saskatchewan, which may include short-notice deployments.
  • Exposure to graphic or disturbing evidence as part of serious incident investigations.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required for success in this position would be obtained through experience in a law enforcement or prosecution setting
