Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Manufacture. Tasks: Operate and set up machines to perform repetitive machining operations. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Prepare etching solution and immerse metal parts or workpiece into the etching solution to remove unwanted portions. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery. Enter codes specifying speed, feed and cut of the toolpath for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools. Clean and maintain work space. Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems. Read blueprint, schemas and drawings. Monitor and inspect quality of material produced. Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts. Measuring tools: Micrometers. Verniers. Instrument experience: Precision measuring instrument. Equipment and machinery experience: Milling machines. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Area of work experience: Fabrication. Equipment: Automatic lathes. Screw machines. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods. Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs).
