About the role
Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.
The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Mike Petryk School of Dentistry is seeking a highly organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented Orthodontic Treatment Coordinator to play a key role in supporting both patients and Orthodontic Graduate Students.
Position Overview
In this role, you will help ensure a smooth, positive experience for patients throughout their orthodontic journey—from the start of treatment to completion—while assisting Graduate Students and Orthodontists in achieving key learning objectives within the three-year Graduate Program. Your work will directly contribute to patient satisfaction, clinical efficiency, and the success of our future orthodontic professionals.
The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is one of the world’s top academic health science centres. With 21 departments, multiple research institutes and centres, and a focus on excellence in education, research, and clinical care, the faculty trains outstanding medical and dental professionals and drives global health innovation in collaboration with partners across sectors.
The position is responsible for, but not limited to:

Coordinating the new patient intake process from initial consultation through the start of treatment and ongoing support throughout care.

Managing appointments, data entry, and patient intake forms.

Providing insurance and financial support, including verifying coverage, managing pre-authorizations, and explaining treatment costs.

Educating patients and families on treatment plans, timelines, and available options.
-
Maintaining accurate records of patient care, payments, and insurance benefits.

Minimum Post Secondary Diploma in Dental Administration

2+ years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience as a Dental Assistant with Orthodontic Module experience
-
Minimum two years experience in a fast-paced dental environment
-
Computer proficiency with spreadsheets and documents, with the ability to learn new programs, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office.

Proficiency with computerized practice management software, specifically Ortho2 ViewPoint or other EHR software
-
Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to describe treatment or procedures in plain language.

Demonstrated collaborative and team oriented working style

Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines and prioritize activities.

Ability to multitask in a fast paced and diverse work environment that is dynamic and constantly changing
-
Accurate data entry skills; strong attention to detail.

Experience with a large volume of telephone calls; ability to deal with the general public
