Full-time, 35 hours/ week, Hybrid

We are seeking a motivated professional to support projects that will shape the future of the energy system. The ideal candidate will bring strong project management skills, experience with DERs and/or in the utility space, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. An educational background in electrical engineering will be considered a strong asset.

What You’ll Do Project Management Support:

  • Assist in the design and delivery of pilot projects.
  • Contribute to project management activities, including developing and tracking project plans, schedules, and timelines.
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes and follow up on action items and decisions.

Financial Management

  • Manage monthly and quarterly project financials, including variance analysis and forecasting.
  • Prepare quarterly project reporting packages.
  • Obtain approval from project sponsors for reimbursements.

Collaboration With Finance And Customer Service

  • Coordinate with Finance and Customer Service departments to manage customer incentive invoicing and payments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial transactions.
  • Reconcile financial processes effectively.

Vendor And Contract Management

  • Collaborate with the Legal department to support the negotiation, development, and management of vendor contracts and relationships.
  • Monitor vendor progress, review work performed, and provide feedback to ensure contracted deliverables are met.
  • Track and monitor vendor payments and accruals, ensuring relevant costs are captured and included in project expenditures.

Project Design And Development

  • Work with software vendors and project team members to contribute to project design and development.
  • Identify process improvements and workflow enhancements.

Marketing And Customer Engagement

  • Coordinate marketing efforts and support customer acquisition in collaboration with the Marketing team.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and training to customers and internal teams.
  • Develop customer-facing materials and track customer enrollment.
  • Coordinate responses to customer feedback.

Team Collaboration And Development

  • Participate in project team recruitment and provide cross-training.
  • Share knowledge and learnings with team members.
  • Promote team collaboration and cohesiveness.

Administrative Support

  • Provide project and administrative support to achieve departmental objectives and initiatives within the GRE&T Centre.
  • Interact with various team members and departments to coordinate project activities.
  • Maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Who You Are Education & Specialized Knowledge

  • Post-Secondary education in relevant field (engineering, science, sustainability, policy, business administration), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General knowledge of the energy and utility industries and the relationship between system operations, generators and consumers.
  • Knowledge in electricity market fundamentals, including capacity and energy markets as well as ancillary services in the electricity wholesale market.
  • Advanced level of proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel spreadsheet and modelling skills.
  • Proficient in project management tools, such as Microsoft project

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of related work experience demonstrating the range of duties expected for this position.
  • Experience working in the Utility/Energy sector.
  • Experience working with EV projects is an asset.
  • Experience building database is an asset.
  • Experience working with vendor or developers, contract negotiation and management is an asset.
  • Experience working as a Business Analyst or Project Coordinator is an asset.

  • Demonstrates creative problem-solving skills to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet challenging deadlines while working on multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong collaborative and collegial working relationships with team members, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills, with the ability to learn, apply and explain information in an organized and concise way.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research abilities to assess data and provide clear analysis and recommendations.
  • Self-motivated; ability to work both independently and as a team player.
  • Strong results orientation, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in an environment with minor or almost no exposure to disagreeable or challenging working conditions.
  • Position is based in Alectra’s Cityview office but with regular travel to other Alectra offices and project sites as required, with remote work an option according to Alectra policy. Travel expenses to be reimbursed as per Alectra policy.
