Basic Requirements
- Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
- Bachelors degree in Nursing;
- Masters Degree in Nursing or Masters degree in related discipline with an undergraduate degree in Nursing;
- Minimum five (5) years nursing experience including dealing with complex, multi-system problems;
- Minimum three (3) years current experience providing care to individuals with complex cardiovascular/structural heart disease;
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and expertise related to valvular heart disease, structural heart procedures, care and self-management support, including adaptations for a variety of acute care situations;
- Demonstrated experience and ability related to program development;
- Demonstrated experience and ability providing individual and group education (to patients, families, health professionals, organizations);
- knowledge and skill related to the consultation process as it relates to individuals and groups in the outpatient setting;
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team;
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and decision making skills;
- Effective time management skills;
- Demonstrated ability to adjust to competing priorities;
- Demonstrated leadership ability;
- Demonstrated expert communication skills, both verbally and in writing;
- Previous research utilization and evaluation experience;
- Knowledge of computer software, including MS Office, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint;
- Knowledge of relevant clinical and professional practice standards and guidelines;
- Superior knowledge in HF care in the out patient setting;
- Superior knowledge in education of patients with valvular heart disease;
- Proficiency in English and French - oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
Language proficiency requirements are based on the nature of the position and the level of interaction with French and English speaking clients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Member of the Registered Nurse's Association of Ontario;
- Recent experience in Cath/EP/COR and Critical Care.
