Job Summary:

The Rail Unloader is responsible for safely and efficiently unloading Styrene and Pentane from railcars into the tank farm. This role involves coordinate railcar movement, oversee safety systems, unloading cars, switching valves, tracking product flow, operating pumps, performing rail and tank farm inspection, receiving and releasing cars, and Bill of Ladings. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and the ability to follow standard operating procedures. Standard hours of operations 40 hours a week with occasional overtime and weekend hours, no travel required for this position.

What you will do:

  • Safely connect and disconnect railcars using proper fittings, hoses, and unloading equipment
  • Monitor and control the flow of materials from railcars to tanks and storage tanks into the plant
  • Check railcar seals and documentation for accuracy before unloading
  • Perform visual inspections of unloading equipment and hoses for wear or damage
  • Track material movement and report discrepancies or contamination
  • Perform minor maintenance and assist with troubleshooting equipment issues
  • Follow all site-specific safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE
  • Communicate with supervisors, control room personnel, and fellow operators to coordinate unloading schedules
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of rail unloading area
  • Complete required logs, checklists, and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Knowledge:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • 2-5 years previous experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate leadership in safety practices and culture
  • Highly motivated with a good, sound work ethic.
  • Familiar with ISO 9000 Quality Systems, WHMIS
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
  • Prior experience operating a propane sit-down forklift or other mobile equipment (Powered Industrial Trucks).
  • Must demonstrate safe working practices and possess great attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow Carlisle policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Good communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Basic computer, mathematics, and problem-solving skills; ability to use a calculator.
  • Team player able to follow instructions from both management and peers.
  • Ability to learn and operate new equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • Fast paced manufacturing environment where workers are exposed to both ambient/outside temperatures and dust; working with mechanical parts and pinch points; exposure to increased noise levels.
  • Hours worked: 8 hours/shift, varies on shift schedule and business volume.
