About The Role
RWAM is looking for a motivated individual with strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills to join our Group Underwriting Team. The Group Benefits Underwriter will be responsible for assessing risk, pricing, and analyzing new and in-force business. The Group Benefits Underwriter supports profitability, growth and retention goals while helping deliver a high level of service to our customers.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with team members across RWAM and external partners to continuously strengthen business relationships and contribute to our shared success. The successful candidate will also assist with reporting, provide insights to help guide decision-making, and contribute to the continuous improvement of underwriting processes. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys detailed work, problem solving, and contributing to a supportive team environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide risk assessment and pricing on new business primarily for the small to mid size market
- Prepare costing plan design alternatives
- Conduct annual renewal analyses of in-force business in line with profitability and retention objectives
- Service existing and prospective clients and business partners within established service standards
- Perform Block and Preferred Arrangement analyses
- Participate in special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Post Secondary education with a degree / diploma in business, math, or other related fields
- Strong analytical, organization and planning skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other software packages
- Detail oriented with ability to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, to adapt to change and to offer creative solutions
- Previous group underwriting experience is an asset
Salary Range: $55,000-$85,000 (based on experience)
