We are looking for a dynamic BIM Specialist to join our Water team on a full-time basis in our Toronto office.

Duties:

  • Work closely with project managers, design leads, engineers and other disciplines to prepare and coordinate working construction drawings (plans, sections and details using Revit and/or AutoCAD).
  • Flexible ability to work in 2D or 3D.
  • Review models against markups to ensure accuracy of work in the three dimensional model and resultant two-dimensional drawings.
  • Produce and/or modify a Process (Piping and equipment) Revit model from sketches, mark-ups and/or designs as required by the project team to suit design requirements
  • Interpret design sketches and details provided by engineers and use them to update models
  • Populate and maintain the parametric database within a model as needed to meet design requirements.
  • Coordinate the model preparation, design challenges, conflicts, clashes, model challenges and provide support as necessary.
  • Review layouts of mechanical or electrical services for interferences with major building elements such as structure, ceilings, walls, etc.
  • Identify and discuss interferences or space issues with the project team for resolution and change implementation. This may include three dimensional analysis using Revit or other software such as Navisworks.
  • Perform clash detection in BIM360, Autodesk Navisworks or other similar software
  • Use the Revit family editor to build BIM content as necessary
  • Working in a Common Data Environment
  • Prepare drawing submittal packages
  • Control and maintain models in an organized manner and maintain compliance with RVA and Client standards and procedures
  • Educating team members on standard BIM procedures and processes and any new methodologies that may be useful
  • Support with proposal concepts, graphics and presentation of Revit models
  • Perform other related duties as assigned/required and appropriate to this position.

Qualifications:

  • 2 or 3-year diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Building Information Modelling Program (BIM), Architecture, Mechanical or Electrical building service program; engineering or construction field(s) of Architectural or Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist, or a related field with relevant work experience.
  • College diploma in or a related field with relevant work experience.
  • 1-3 years of direct industry experience, preferably in the field(s) of water/wastewater, process or mechanical.
  • Demonstrates strong English communication skills both oral and written.
  • Ability to read and interpret multi-discipline engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Autodesk, Revit 2017 or newer is required, with exposure to mechanical layouts and systems.
  • Experience with shared parameters, scheduling, family editing, etc. is an asset.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation (not a requirement, but an asset)
  • Must be flexible, fast learner and a motivated self-starter with the ability to problem solve and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as contribute to the team with a positive attitude towards work, colleagues and clients.
  • Highly motivated and proactive with the desire to learn and willing to take on new challenges and an ability to accept direction
  • Must have good time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple fast paced projects at once.
