Capital Regional DistrictBuilding Services & Maintenance SupervisorReq ID: 1885 Rate of Pay: $45.94 - $52.01 per hour; plus benefits and standby payHours of Work: 80 hours bi-weeklyClosing Date: June 15, 2026SummaryThis position is responsible for coordinating and administering the Facilities Management Maintenance and Operations Program. This position provides leadership and supervision to Facility Maintenance staff and is responsible for planning, organizing and directing preventive and reactive maintenance. The role oversees ongoing safety and maintenance inspections to ensure safe public access to facilities and compliance with all required codes and regulations.Key Duties & Responsibilities Provides leadership, supervision, direction and guidance to Maintenance and Operations staff. Supervises, recruits, trains and conducts performance reviews. Works with Management to ensure the smooth, efficient operation and maintenance of facilities. Plans, prioritizes, assigns, schedules and directs staff in the provision of maintenance, repair and installations of equipment and infrastructure. Responds to enquiries, complaints and requests for service from various departments and tenants regarding building safety, security, property usage, and facilities management issues. Investigates malfunctions to building electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fabric or other systems and determines the most effective solution/repair. Responds to emergency calls concerning security or damage to CRD facilities. Coordinates and assigns work to numerous externally contracted services. Develops standards, specifications and best practices for facility operations. Oversees section safety program. Provides direction on project coordination for maintenance projects including overseeing and coordinating resources, problem solving and identifying solutions. Monitors completed work to ensure compliance with standards. Coordinate maintenance and repair activities in leased buildings according to terms of lease agreements. Ensures hazardous conditions are identified and makes recommendations and decisions to resolve problems or concerns. Oversees facilities Preventative Maintenance programs' and schedules. Establishes and maintains regular maintenance and specials project records for all buildings. Conducts ongoing maintenance inspections and recommends corrective actions as required. Researches and makes recommendations regarding changes and improvements to service or maintenance equipment or issues. Coordinate and administer the Facilities standby rotation, including staff training and schedule development. Act as a technical advisor on energy management. Drafts annual budget requests, proposals and projections. Monitors and controls assigned line items expenditure budgets for all facilities. Develops recommendations and drafts reports regarding operational changes. Prepares and administers procurement processes for maintenance, service and repair contracts in accordance with CRD policies and procedures. Prepares specifications for maintenance service contracts and maintenance projects. Oversees work including general contract requirements, contractors and consultants. Liaises with clients regarding maintenance concerns and schedules and coordinates contracted maintenance activities with clients and contractors. May be required to be on Standby rotation. Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD Performs other related duties as required.Additional Information None Key Skills & Abilities Knowledge and understanding of WorkSafeBC practices/protocols, Workers' Compensation Act and OHS Regulations and other relevant safety statutes Demonstrated ability to supervise large teams within a complex unionized environment.
