Arts Umbrella has two locations in Vancouver and Surrey, as well as donor-funded programs at schools, community centres, neighbourhood houses, and healthcare facilities across Metro Vancouver. We serve nearly 20,000 young people every year, with 77% participating in donor-funded programs.

The Opportunity The Coordinator, Human Resources plays a key role in supporting the people and culture that make Arts Umbrella thrive. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, this position provides essential day-to-day Human Resources support across recruitment, onboarding, employee records, and staff engagement. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, approachable, and passionate about creating a positive employee experience in a collaborative, creative, and mission-driven environment.
In This Role You Will
- Support recruitment processes including job postings, interview scheduling, reference checks, and candidate communications
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new hires, ensuring a welcoming and consistent experience
- Maintain recruitment files and ensure accurate record-keeping
- Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS (UKG)
- Prepare HR-related documents such as employment letters and contracts
- Assist with reporting, data entry, and file management
- Track employee training, certifications, and other requirements
- Support HR-led staff events, celebrations, and recognition programs
- Assist with employee engagement surveys and communications
- Help create materials that support HR initiatives and internal communications
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of HR documentation
- Distribute and collect employee handbook acknowledgments and policy updates
- Support compliance with organizational and legal requirements
Here’s What You Bring
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 1–3 years of HR or administrative experience
- Experience in a non-profit or arts/culture organization (an asset)
- Experience working in dynamic environments and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with HRIS systems (UKG preferred)
