As a Parts Cleaner , you will perform chemical and mechanical cleaning of parts and other metal products by hand, solvent bath or other processes to remove unwanted materials.
What you’ll do:
- Operate and learn industrial cleaning methods including solvent hand cleaning, chemical cleaning, grit blasting, and mechanical cleaning processes in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
- Operate and maintain metal cleaning equipment such as vapor blasters, wheelabrators, deburring systems, and blast cabinets.
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final cleaning of metal components, including drying using hot water, forced air, or oven systems.
- Monitor and maintain chemical cleaning tanks, including performing titration tests and recording chemical concentrations per required specifications.
- Prepare, mask, and protect surfaces prior to cleaning and non-destructive testing processes.
- Sort, identify, and segregate metal parts according to required cleaning processes and specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including proper waste disposal in accordance with environmental and safety procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and cross-train in related manufacturing or finishing processes.
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE requirements, and report hazards, equipment issues, or process deviations immediately.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per shift with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis (up to 33% of shift) with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions in English with basic comprehension sufficient to complete assigned tasks after training .
- Ability to perform basic computer functions such as entering data, completing simple forms, or following digital checklists after training .
- Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to chemicals, noise, dust, and machinery while using required PPE for all applicable tasks after training is provided .
Desired Skills:
- Working knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- Experience with or understanding of chemical titration methods.
- Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazardous material handling procedures.
- Knowledge of manufacturing documentation such as MSDS/SDS labels, work instructions, and OEM manuals.
- Experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
