About the role

Reporting to the Director, Business Transformation with direction from the Project Steering Committee and Sponsor, this role is responsible for leading complex, cross-functional projects and programs that drive business and technology transformation. The Senior Project Manager oversees project planning, execution, and governance, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and timeline while proactively managing risks and dependencies. This role builds strong relationships with executives, business units, and technical teams, aligning stakeholders and ensuring seamless integration of business and system changes. Responsibilities include budget management, project tracking, and mentoring project team members, ensuring operational readiness and long-term success.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Develop and manage project and program plans, schedules, and objectives, ensuring alignment with executive direction and stakeholder priorities.
  • Ensure projects and programs meet schedule, budget, and quality targets, while proactively managing risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Ownership of stakeholder engagement, building strong relationships across executives, business units, and technical teams to ensure alignment.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams, coordinating resources, deliverables, and milestones to achieve business objectives.
  • Manage and administer project budgets, tracking expenses, forecasting costs, and optimizing financial performance.
  • Provide input into business cases, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement project tracking, governance, and reporting mechanisms to keep leadership informed and ensure transparency.
  • Perform risk assessment analysis and develop risk mitigation plans associated with projects.
  • Advise stakeholders on the impact of business and system changes, ensuring smooth integration across departments.
  • Drive project requirements gathering and solution design, collaborating with business and technical teams to define clear outcomes.
  • Oversee project execution from development to implementation, ensuring testing, deployment, and operational readiness.
  • Mentor and coach project team members, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth within the organization.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Project Management Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
  • Agile Certification (SAFe, Scrum Master, PMI-ACP).
  • Proven track record with at least 3-5 years of experience leading complex, cross-functional projects, ideally in the telecommunications industry, delivering large-scale IT, OSS/BSS, ERP, and digital transformation initiatives. Program management experience would be considered an asset. Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with strong analytical abilities.
  • Business acumen and financial analysis skills derived from managing project P&Ls, cost-benefit analyses, business cases, budget forecasting, CapEx/OpEx planning, and ROI tracking.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to drive favorable agreements, resolve conflicts, and influence outcomes in business, vendor, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, and MS Project/Planner/Teams.

Contacts

External contacts include vendors partners and consultants for the purpose of evaluating offerings, negotiating pricing, terms and support the incumbent may also be required to act on behalf of the company for the vendor selection process. Interactions with Government entities in terms of permitting and negotiations, customers and outside project teams.

Internal contacts include employees at various levels, from all departments, for establishing requirements and deliverables. This position is accountable to the Project Steering Committee and Sponsor established for each individual project and program.
