About the role

This position is a full time role, and has a hybrid work arrangement. On average, this means 1-2 day(s) on-site per week in the Calgary office. Please note that this is subject to change due to business priorities.

As ATB’s next Senior Manager Operational Risk & Resilience, you would provide enterprise-level ownership, leadership, and governance of ATB’s Business Impact Analysis (BIA), and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) programs across ATB, and play a pivotal role in the implementation of Operational Resilience. This role ensures that resilience, continuity, and operational risk practices are strategically embedded across the organization. The Senior Manager is also accountable for leading the implementation and governance of BIA/BCP programs and technologies, managing critical operations oversight, and support the development of operational resilience governance and oversight programs. As a trusted advisor, the Senior Manager partners with senior leaders to embed resilience into strategy while ensuring compliance with ATB’s risk frameworks, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices.

Accountabilities

Enterprise Ownership of BIA & BCP

  • Lead ATB’s BIA and BCP programs across the organization, including development, governance, and enterprise-wide adoption.
  • Lead the implementation and automation of the BIA/BCP program within ServiceNow, ensuring integration of operational resilience activities into day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain enterprise governance of ServiceNow BIA/BCP modules, ensuring alignment and integration of data into ATB’s GRC platform (MetricStream).

Operational Resilience Governance

  • Develop, maintain, and govern ATB’s operational resilience scenario library, ensuring coverage of severe but plausible threats to critical operations.
  • Coordinate and support enterprise-wide scenario testing, validating ATB’s ability to respond and recover in alignment with regulatory expectations and business strategy.
  • Lead the critical operations gap analysis, identifying control deficiencies, monitoring remediation, and overseeing governance of resilience controls.
  • Support the implementation of Third Party governance related to those vendors whose resilience is imperative to critical services or critical assets within the operational resilience program

Risk Governance & Advisory

  • Oversee the execution of operational risk framework and programs for resilience, continuity, and critical operations within ATB.
  • Support the development of Operational resilience governance and oversight programs
  • Act as the enterprise “go-to” expert for operational resilience scenario analysis, BIA/BCP, Service Now within the Operational Risk Management team.
  • Lead and challenge Operational resilience scenario Risk & Control Assessments (RCA) across the organization, ensuring resilience controls are documented effectively and aligned with ATB’s risk appetite and frameworks.
  • Distill issues, incidents, and findings into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership, balancing risk management with strategic objectives.

Collaboration & Influence

  • Partner with business and technology leaders to embed resilience thinking into mid-term and long-term strategy and planning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across ATB to drive understanding and compliance with resilience and operational risk requirements.
  • Act as a trusted partner to senior leaders executives on risk trade-offs, resilience strategies, and regulatory compliance.

Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Leadership

  • Stay current on OSFI, BCBS, and industry best practices related to operational resilience, continuity, and risk management.
  • Source and engage in external training and seminars to maintain an advanced understanding of operational risk assessment techniques, tools, and regulations.
  • Act as a mentor and resource within the Operational Risk Management team, fielding questions and supporting capability development.

Accreditation

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or other related field.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in operational risk management, operational resilience, and business continuity leadership.
  • Proven ability to lead enterprise-wide risk and resilience programs and engage senior leaders with influence and credibility.
