Student Social Media Assistant, Gupta Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health

About the role

The Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Student Social Media Assistants to help manage and grow our social media presence. This position is ideal for students interested in helping the Faculty build connections to students and the broader community by promoting Kinesiology programs, events, activities, career and job opportunities, and research through online engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with managing the Faculty’s social media accounts (e.g. Instagram accounts for the Department of Kinesiology and Applied Health, Athletic Therapy Program, Athletic Therapy Clinic)
  • Create and schedule engaging content highlighting student experiences, research, events, faculty members, etc.
  • Capture photos and short videos at faculty events, classes, and activities
  • Write captions and assist with social media campaigns
  • Monitor engagement and respond to comments or messages when appropriate
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote programs, initiatives, and student opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate student in the Department of Kinesiology and Applied Health (BPHE, BKIN, or BKIN (Honours) major), 3rd or 4th year student preferred
  • Familiarity with The University of Winnipeg campus is desirable.
  • Good knowledge of programs within the Department of Kinesiology and Applied Health
  • Strong interest in social media, digital communications, and/or marketing
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, etc.
  • Basic photography/video skills using a smartphone or camera
  • High oral and written English proficiency.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work from August 2025 to April 2026.

An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must be a full-time student at The University of Winnipeg during the Fall/Winter 2026-2027 academic year.
  • Must be available to attend an in-person or virtual orientation meeting the week of August 17th, 2026.
