Responsible for developing, executing, and reporting on control testing procedures to ensure compliance with regulations, internal policies, and operational practices. Identifies control gaps or weaknesses and recommend improvements. Works with business/group and internal partners to ensure regulatory, corporate and fiduciary obligations are met. Evaluates risks and identifies appropriate actions to mitigate them to an acceptable level within the risk appetite.
- Develops and executes control test plans and procedures.
- Conducts and/or effectively challenges control evidence and identifies additional evidence where needed.
- Identifies control deficiencies and provides a fair and balanced assessment of their magnitude.
- Applies sound judgment in the execution of the assigned work and ensures open lines of communication.
- Clearly documents evidence of control testing activities to facilitate ease of reperformance and adherence to internal documentation policies and requirements.
- Analyzes and reports control testing results to business/group management including recommending changes to applicable policies and procedures.
- Develops and maintains positive working relations with key stakeholders and builds effective professional relationships with business groups and other internal/external stakeholders.
- Focus is primarily on second line activities across Legal, Risk and Compliance business units; but may have broader, enterprise-wide focus including BMO’s products and services.
- Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
Qualifications:
- Typically, between 3 - 5 years of relevant experience and degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Audit experience preferred.
- Recognized CIA certification or equivalent preferred.
- Strong process analysis, risk and control identification and testing capabilities
- Strong knowledge of second line and/or business operations & procedures, and activities involving documented practices.
- Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth.
- Collaboration & relationship management skills - In-depth.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills - In-depth.
- Negotiation skills and ability to influence - In-depth.
Salary:
$61,600.00 - $113,900.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
