Your Opportunity
You will apply your technical skills, project delivery, and leadership to a complex array of potable water distribution, wastewater collection and stormwater management system planning and design projects. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, detail-oriented, team player that is capable of leading tasks, embraces innovative technology, and is eager to mentor staff. We collaborate on projects coast to coast in Canada and across North America. Our ideal candidates will have experience as a consulting engineer, planning and designing water infrastructure projects for municipal clients using the latest water resources and geospatial industry tools. This role will require a balance of technical leadership, problem-solving, project coordination, and introductory business development and client management support.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Participate in a wide variety of urban water resources projects, from planning and conceptual design through detailed design, implementation, and operational support.
- Perform engineering analysis on assigned projects under supervision of the Project Manager or Project Technical Lead.
- Collaborate with senior technical and project leaders to ensure that all project requirements are fulfilled, priorities are clearly communicated, and quality control measures are implemented and documented.
- Provide support in the development, implementation, and interpretation of data analytics and hydrologic and hydraulic models for stormwater management, sewer collection, and water distribution systems to evaluate system performance, identify issues, and develop or assess practical remedial solutions.
- May participate in and/or conduct field investigations to support data collection, technical analysis, and the preparation of conceptual and functional designs.
- May assist senior engineers with developing and managing project proposals, scope, budget, staff resourcing and deliverable schedule.
- Communicate results/interpretations via technical reporting and presentations, and participate and help lead client project meetings.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Sound understanding of water and environmental related principles and engineering concepts, including hydraulics and hydrology.
- Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Commitment to client satisfaction and the delivery of high-quality work products.
- Possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and desire to contribute to a positive, engaging team environment (virtual and in-person).
- Experience with industry standard hydraulic/hydrologic tools/models. Familiarity with InfoWorks ICM (1D and 2D), InfoWater Pro, WaterGems, PCSWMM, and/or MIKE+ software packages.
- Strong knowledge of developing/calibrating and interpreting hydraulic/hydrologic models would be considered an asset.
- Has aptitudes for analyzing and interpreting data and hydraulic model results (i.e., database/spreadsheet management, scripting, querying, dashboards).
- Experience working with GIS and/or AutoCAD to present and facilitate interpretation of results is preferred.
- Highly skilled in common desktop packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Project, etc.)
- Experience authoring technical reports.
- Experience supporting and/or preparing proposals would be considered an asset.
- Experience with complimentary skillsets would be considered assets (coding, river engineering, climate change, asset management, coastal engineering, etc.).
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, water resources, or environmental engineering.
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
- Minimum of 5 years relatable experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining seated for long periods of time. Hybrid work arrangement available.
