About the role

This position works in the IT Strategy and Architecture unit. This is analytical work at the entry level analyzing business processes and defining IT components for applications. The incumbent performs a number of activities supporting the sustainment of application; compiles and documents application metrics; assists in the identification and documentation of issues and the resolution of problems. A Business Analyst 1 assists in performing a number of activities supporting the deployment of applications such as developing test cases and test data, executing tests of disaster recovery plans, developing training modules and delivering same, performing data assembly, data cleansing, data entry and validation of transferred data; may write or configure data transfer routines, spreadsheets or applications. Assists in performing a number of activities supporting the identification of business requirements and the design of solutions such as gathering information and preparing working papers for current business procedures, developing prototype and compiling hardware, software, network and data information from vendors. May attend internal and external meetings; assists in the preparation of business cases related to long term strategies and the acquisition of technologies. Some knowledge of the functions of departments served and their requirements as applied to information technology. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include the completion of a university degree at the bachelor’s level in computer science or a related discipline and some related systems analysis experience, or, an equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful candidate will have knowledge of information technology components, process and developments such as implementing SaaS and COTS products in a hybrid of digital & data initiatives. Experience with workplace productivity tools (such as ServiceNow, Microsoft 365 and with municipal systems such as GIS, Infor, EnerGov, SAP, Tempest, Dynamics ERP etc.) is an asset. The incumbent will have the ability to perform problem definition and analysis related to business processes and systems planning; ability to analyze and evaluate various data and information, develop logical solutions for assigned problems and assess the implications of proposed changes. A Business Analyst 1 will have the ability to participate in the work of a project team; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:45 PM (Mutual Agreement between Monday to Friday, 7:00AM – 6:00PM) This is a Temporary Full Time position until February 7, 2027.
