A Strategic Role at the Heart of Logistics The Financial Analyst – Operations supports the Financial Operations team by delivering in-depth financial analysis, insightful reporting, and process optimization to drive informed decision-making and operational efficiency. This role plays a key part in month-end activities, variance analysis, budgeting support, and cash flow monitoring, while ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. Leveraging strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capabilities, the Financial Analyst contributes to the automation and continuous improvement of financial processes across payables, receivables, broker compensation, and inventory operations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare expense variance reports that provide meaningful analysis, in-depth review and insightful commentary on month-to-month financial results on a monthly basis.
- Perform analysis of income statement accounts and provide the related explanations according to established models.
- Prepare adjusting month-end journal entries.
- Support the Financial Operations Manager in his responsibilities and with the preparation of special reports.
- Maintain the accounting chart for dimension codes.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and policies and propose solutions or corrective measures when applicable
- Support the broker compensation team in preparing weekly trading partner compensation reconciliations and log files
- Support the receivables team preparing weekly and monthly analyses of collection risks and bad debts
- Provide analytical support in budgeting by organizing the collection and interpretation of appropriate data from all departments in the financial operations group
- Provide weekly analysis and reporting to support Payables group cash flow management
- Help the Financial Operations group to further automate and improve current processes, using advanced skills in Excel, Excel Power Query, etc.
- Perform insightful, ad hoc analysis to investigate and resolve ongoing or ad hoc issues related to month end, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory.
Qualifications
- Hold a university degree in Finance or Accounting (CPA obtained or in progress an asset)
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position;
- Excellent planning, strategy and analytical skills;
- Bilingualism (French and English), both oral and written;
- Advanced Excel and strong ability to adapt with financial systems;
- Highly developed sense of organization and keen sense of urgency;
- Ability to work under pressure and ease in managing priorities with minimal supervision;
