The Opportunity We are actively seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our Purchasing team at AGI Swift Current, a division of AGI. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that we have the right product in the right place at the right time to support production and minimize costs. This role is very cross-functional as you will work closely with the Sales, Production, Engineering and Accounting departments.

The Team

We are currently a dynamic team of 3 from varied backgrounds. We collaborate closely with each other as well as the entire AGI Swift Current Leadership Team. The Purchasing Agent will report directly to the Purchasing Manager.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of cost reduction initiatives
• Information processing
• Negotiate price reductions with suppliers
• Ensure suppliers remain compliant to commitments
• Support the application of contractual remedies against material breaches (claims)
• Identify supply chain risks and develop strategy to minimize impacts
• Develop new sources of supply and establish strategic alliances
• Establish and maintain networks internally and externally
• Support the business unit with appropriate sourcing strategies
• Follow AGI’s Code of Business Ethics and related compliance policies
• Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Previous experience in a purchasing role is an asset
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate
• Strong organizational skills
• An excellent memory and attention to details
