Job Description

As an Email Marketing Specialist, you will work with cross-functional teams to support the Toronto Star’s growth initiatives through email campaign management. You’ll be responsible for the thorough execution of each email campaign, the refinement of existing templates, and the creation of new ones.

  • Manage the email calendar to monitor requests for deployments from various business units and head off any audience conflicts

  • Work with internal teams to ensure strategic initiatives are reflected in an accurate and effective manner

  • Stay on top of the campaign management tasks to ensure projects stay on track including collection of campaign assets and contact lists.

  • Day-to-day email campaign execution, including list imports, set-up, segmentation, scheduling, and reporting

  • Confirm all email components (links, personalization, images) are functioning and displaying as expected

  • Support any design changes, CSS and HTML updates, and troubleshoot template, content, and images

  • Optimize existing and new templates for viewing across multiple platforms and devices taking into consideration best practices for preview text, subject lines, personalization, mobile responsiveness and dark-mode support to drive overall engagement

  • Run A/B test to improve and optimize campaign performance based on changing business needs.

  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years email marketing or related experience

  • University or college degree in marketing or related discipline

  • Hands-on experience working directly with an email marketing platform, and deploying emails to targeted segments

  • Exceptional time management, organization, and prioritization skills

  • Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently and as part of a team

  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS for email coding and best practices

  • Computer fluency of MS Office, Google Sheets and Adobe Photoshop
