Job Summary

The Manager, Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) Data Collection, is accountable to lead a team and for ensuring the ongoing provision of aeronautical information services for NAV CANADA in accordance with CARs, ICAO Annexes 4 and 15 and the NAV CANADA Level of Service Policy. This includes the instantiation of new aeronautical information, maintaining regulatory compliance, and the maintenance of aeronautical information in support of ongoing safety impact assessments and changes to the operational environment. This also includes the timely publication and operational release of aeronautical information to the domestic and international audience. The Manager, AIM Data Collection leads a team of professionals in the execution and provision of these services on behalf of NAV CANADA and is responsible for coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the services are effective and efficient.

In this role you will:

  • Manage the operational functioning of AIM Data Collection to ensure capacity and execution can sufficiently meet service demand volumes

    • adhering to production schedules and service level agreements.
    • ensuring compliance to production processes.
    • ensuring adherence to regulatory practices and processes - strict publication timelines associated with the ICAO Aeronautical Information Regulation and Control (AIRAC) process, quality requirements with respect to accuracy, resolution and integrity, and the maintenance of flight procedure designs and associated information.
  • Provide management representation in the functioning of the regulated and ISO certified AIM Business Management System.

  • Identify, plan and direct implementation (in partnership with Operations, ANS Technology, ATS Standards, ATS Learning, Stakeholder and Commercial Relations, etc.) of initiatives that contribute to resource and service improvements:

    • Research and maximize the use of existing technology and procedures to improve safety, efficiency and training success.
    • Identify and implement productivity and service delivery improvements.
    • Represent AIM as the business owner for technology and systems
  • Responsible as the accountable manager for Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment activities in accordance with NAV CANADA Safety Management System policies and procedures

  • Fully accountable for all staffing activites including the responsibility to hire, allocate priorities and assign work, establish budget, assess performance, authorize leave, schedule overtime and shift work, provide guidance and coaching and take disciplinary action as required.

  • Flow corporate goals and objectives to the front-line staff and coach staff to ensure they are aware of their performance in line with company expectations.

  • Act as the NAV CANADA representative with AIM stakeholders, both internally and externally, ie. Operations, ATS Standards and Level Of Service, Transport Canada, Department of National Defence, airline representatives, aerodrome operators, etc.

What you bring:

Education:

  • Completion of a Degree in a related field (aviation, engineering, computer science, supply chain management, etc.) or equivalent combination of Education, Training and Experience.

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in the aviation industry.
  • 3 years supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience in aeronautical information services.
  • Experience initiating, scoping, and delivering business projects in a complex operational environment to enhance delivery of service to stakeholders.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of production processes, principles, and methodologies and applications used in the management of aeronautical information and data..
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Air Navigation System and Aeronautical Information Services
  • Knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations and the ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices applicable to AIM.
  • Knowledge of the ISO 9001 International Standard for a Quality Management System.
  • Knowledge of NAV CANADA’s budgeting and forecast processes.
  • Knowledge of NAV CANADA HR, LR policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a diverse and sometimes physically remote team.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is a hybrid position with a minimum – 3 days per week on site.
