Security Supervisor - Kingsway Mall

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Security team at Kingsway Mall in the role of Security Supervisor. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for mall patrons and tenants, as well as the daily supervision of all Security personnel.

Responsible for providing effective leadership, guidance, and mentoring for staff and overseeing the development and execution of a Security Plan within the center, aimed at crime prevention, reduction, and awareness.

You will be involved in the maintenance and coordination of all activities related to security hardware, including CCTV, locks, and access control systems, as well as alarm systems. Able to promote a highly effective degree of Customer Service.

This position requires flexibility and availability, including coverage for days, afternoons, nights, and weekend shifts.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

Building Security and Loss Prevention

  • Lead in the execution of the Security Plan aimed at preventing and reducing criminal activity at the centre
  • Encourage awareness and sensitivity to customer and tenant safety, while adhering to relevant legislation and regulations
  • Ability to take ownership of both minor and significant issues, bringing forward practical solutions and initiatives to improve security operations

Personnel

  • Provide supervision and mentorship to all Security Officers to meet objectives set out in the Security Plan, while adhering to prescribed policies and procedures
  • Responsible for recruiting and training of new staff as required, with an emphasis on offering and promoting education and training to all employees in such things as First Aid, Handcuffing Techniques, CPR, report writing and computer knowledge and other skills required for performing their duties
  • Leadership in strategic Planning, Strategies, and Execution

Office Duties

  • Maintenance of an efficient office through proper staffing, accurate records, and the use of resources
  • Review all reports submitted by Security Officers with emphasis on timeliness, detail, and accuracy
  • Ensure staff and equipment are presented and maintained in a professional manner (clean and neat)
  • Statistical analysis of Security Incidents
  • Knowledge of Company Policies and Procedures and ability to carry these out daily

Tenant and Public Relations

  • Maintain and build strong relationships with local Law Enforcement, Community agencies and other groups
  • Familiar with assisting Tenants and new arrivals
  • Investigating tenant complaints, incidents, and other concerns both internally and externally that impact the property in a prompt and professional manner
  • Providing guidance, recommendations and expertise to tenants and patrons with respect to Loss Prevention and other Security issues
  • Ensure excellent communication between Merchants and Security
  • Promote Strong Customer Service Philosophy

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (required)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Certified in First Aid, CPR, and use of force. (required)
  • Valid AB Driver's License and AB Security License (required)
  • 3 years of security and supervisory experience (considered an asset)
  • Post-secondary law enforcement studies (considered an asset)
