The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Technologist to join our Carbonyl team in Mississauga.

As a Senior Technologist, you will be responsible for leading technical projects, optimizing processes, and ensuring health and safety compliance in working with nickel carbonyl and other hazardous substances. This role supports innovation, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance operational efficiency and risk assessment accuracy.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Lead development and refinement of laboratory and operational processing routines and SOPs.
  • Work with team members, external suppliers, designers, etc. to design, build, test, and install specific systems for the carbonyl refineries and the lab. PPE will be required for Health & Safety Precautions
  • Conduct and interpret tests and resolve lab-to-plant performance gaps
  • Help the team implement and monitor the Carbonyl Health Surveillance Program, ensuring hazard control and regulatory adherence
  • Prepare technical reports and maintain records of process data and surveillance outcomes
  • Work with engineers, metallurgists, and health professionals; mentor junior staff
  • Contribute to new technology development and process improvement
  • Travel to operating sites to install systems or provide technical support

About You

Education:

  • Degree or diploma in Chemical Technology, HVAC, Mechanics, Electronics, or a related technical field.

Experience:

  • 8-10 years of similar work experience

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in at least one of the trades, such as electrician, HVAC, plumber manufacturing, etc.
  • Experience dealing with toxic and or flammable gases
  • Strong hands-on and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of nickel refining and carbonyl processing is an asset.
  • Experience with health surveillance protocols and industrial hygiene practices.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with technical documentation and reporting standards.
  • Ability to work in environments with strict safety protocols.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in different teams and projects
