About the role
School District No. 52 (Prince Rupert) Do you love working with food and making a positive impact on students’ lives? We’re looking for a temporary School Meals Program Assistant to help deliver nutritious meals and promote healthy eating habits across our district.
What You Will Do
- Prepare and serve delicious, balanced meals for students.
- Organize food service areas and keep everything running smoothly.
- Shop for groceries and manage supplies.
- Keep accurate records and maintain a clean, safe kitchen.
- Help create newsletters and fun activities that encourage healthy choices.
What We Are Looking For
- Grade 12 or equivalent education.
- At least 3 years of food preparation experience.
- FoodSafe Level 1 certification.
- Knowledge of Canada’s Food Guide.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills (30 wpm).
- Ability to lift and carry out physical tasks.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

School District 52 includes the communities of Port Edward, Metlakatla, and Hartley Bay (the Gitga'at First Nation), as well as Prince Rupert. Prince Rupert is a port city situated on Kaien Island, just north of the mouth of the Skeena River, which lies at the heart of the traditional territory of the Ts'msyen First Nation. This territory is bordered by the neighbouring nations of the Gitxsan, Nisga'a, Haida, Haisla, Wet'suwet'en, and Heiltsuk people. Prince Rupert was established in 1910 as the terminus of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway (now CN Rail). It is the transportation hub of BC's north coast through land, air, and water, and has a population of approximately 13,000.
