THE OPPORTUNITY
Trico Homes is seeking aSenior Product Development Specialistto play a critical role in the success of our product design and development. This is not just a drafting role— it is a senior level position responsible for the strategic development of Trico’s entire home lineup, ensuring our models and elevations meet market demand, architectural guidelines, and internal design standards. This position requires deep expertise in residential design, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments, including Sales, Operations, Estimating, and Marketing.
The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to manage the design process end-to-end, from conceptualization to execution, while maintaining strong relationships with developers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Model Management & Product Development
- Own and manage Trico’s entire model matrix, including all elevations and plan options.
- Design new models, elevations, and floor plan options based on market trends and sales team feedback.
- Adjust and refine standard plans based on feasibility, construction best practices, and customer requests.
- Collaborate with Sales to develop the model lineup for new communities, ensuring it meets buyer demographics and municipal regulations.
- Oversee and create blacklines and renderings for marketing materials.
Show Home & Sales Center Execution
- Oversee the entire show home design process, from model selection to final mechanical walkthrough.
- Work closely with the Sales Team and Director of Sales to review builder packages, bylaws, and developer architectural control (AC) guidelines.
- Create and submit elevation approvals for developers and adjust as needed.
- Select exterior color palettes and manage pre-approvals.
- Coordinate with Estimating to price plans and finalize details for production.
- Set up production file folders, request plot plans, and oversee breezeway and sales center drawings.
- Ensure all final approvals, permits, and compliance documents are completed before home construction begins.
- Manage 2–4 show homes per community across 29+ communities.
- Lead the design and execution of Trico’s Stars Lottery Home (with the Product Development Department)
Architectural & Development Compliance
- Work with developers, architects, and municipalities to ensure compliance with land use bylaws and community guidelines.
- Stay informed of land, grading, and lot-specific constraints, ensuring homes are appropriately designed for each lot.
- Obtain approvals for window schedules, mechanical layouts, air conditioning specs, energy modeling, and structural engineering components.
- Submit drawings for final architectural control approvals and permits.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Estimating, and Marketing to align product offerings with business needs.
- Attend and assist with leading biweekly meetings with the Director of Sales
- Participate in quarterly sales reviews to stay aligned with community sales trends and buyer feedback.
- Assist with management and maintenance of the Product Development task list, ensuring all departments have up-to-date information.
Industry Research & Fieldwork
- Stay ahead of design trends, materials, and buyer preferences by visiting competitor show homes and tracking market innovations.
- Regularly walk through Trico show homes to ensure product excellence and alignment with buyer expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Architectural Technologies Diploma or equivalent.

5-7 years of experience in residential single-family home design and development.

Expert proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit is a strong asset.

Strong understanding of building codes, land use bylaws, and construction best practices.

Exceptional space planning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.

Highly organized, deadline-driven, and adaptable to shifting priorities.

Access to a vehicle for site visits (mileage compensated).
